Practical Approach to Diagnosis & Management of Lipid Disorders

For more than 100 years, it has been established that dyslipidemia plays an important role in the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Considerable advances in risk prediction algorithms and lipid-based therapeutic strategies during the last three decades have had a profound impact on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. At the same time, there remains a substantial residual clinical risk despite the use of conventional approaches to risk prediction and use of lipid-modifying therapies. As a result, there is considerable hope that ongoing developments and discoveries will enable more effective reduction in cardiovascular risk.
