The management of gynaecological cancers has seen considerable changes over recent years. We now have a greater understanding of cancer epidemiology and significant advances have been made in genetics/screening. The approach to women with cancer has become multidisciplinary, with many professionals contributing to the excellent care and outcome that wish to see for those individuals we are privileged to look after. Women with gynaecological
cancers have general as well as specific issues and these are addressed by the various experts who have contributed to this book. The overall desire for a holistic approach should be evident in trying to address these issues.
This book is aimed at trainees in gynaecology and oncology as well as consultants with an interest in cancer care. Allied medical staff, palliative services and nurse specialists will also find it a useful adjunct to getting current information on the whole range of gynaecological oncology.
Chap ters 1 – 8 and 15 cover the broad issues in gyna ecologi cal oncology, while Chapters 9–14 discuss in some detail the issues in relation to site-specific gynaecological cancers. The further reading sections at the end of each chapter are intended to guide the interested reader wishing to seek detailed information relating to the issues covered in the chapters.
